Include a Saturday
Most airlines will load weekday out with a weekday return fares. By including a Saturday night stay in your trip can sometimes reduce your ticket price by far more than the night’s stay. Whilst this will not suit all travellers, it does afford you the opportunity to save money and spend a Saturday night in a city you might not otherwise have seen.

Use complimentary parking
Whilst there are many different parking providers offering a range of parking options, a number of hotels have started are offering complimentary car parking to their guests. These hotels can be near or (quite often) in the airport and they will provide parking for the duration of your trip – if you stay a night with them. This works really well if you have an early morning departure, and the price of the room can also be cheaper than parking alone!

Know your free upgrades
The rule of thumb is always “know what upgrades are available”! For example, there is a great offer until the end of August from Lufthansa – free upgrades from Economy to Business Class on Lufthansa to Italy, including free ‘meet and greet’ parking.

Here are the details: You will qualify for a free upgrade to Lufthansa Italia Business Class if your Economy Class ticket is priced at £250 or more. In addition you can also take advantage of up to three days free ‘meet and greet’ airport parking with Purple Parking. Business class offers you more private space as the adjacent seat is always kept vacant. You can enjoy the extra room to either work, read or just relax with an Italian espresso! You can also make use of the comfortable, well-equipped Lufthansa lounges at both London Heathrow and Milan Malpensa Airports, as well as the security fast lanes.

Work on the plane
Finally, tickets for the British Airways Business Class service from London City airport to New York go on sale after the carrier decided to press on with the launch in September. Club World London City is their ‘Business Class only’ service with just 32 seats on board, flying between London City and New York JFK. The entire journey has been designed to minimise airport travel time and check-in times (claimed to be just 15 minutes) whilst maximising your productivity on board with OnAir capability allowing you to send emails, text from you mobile phone and connect to the Internet throughout your flight.
