Air Travel Guidelines - Pre - During - Post

Before You Travel To The Airport:
Do you have your vaccine status available on the NHS app on a mobile device or an official paper copy?
Do you have record of a negative Covid test if required by your arrival destination?
Do you have necessary face coverings and hand sanitiser for your journey?
Ensure you have enough time to complete all the formalities to make your flight
Ensure you have everything you need - some retail outlets may not be open in the terminals

At The Airport:
Only those travelling should enter the terminal
Expect longer procedures such as checking health documents and body temperatures. Ensure you have quick access to your passport, test results and vaccine status
Ensure your phone is charged if using an app to show vaccination records
Check in online and use self-service bag drops to reduce contact with others
Face coverings are currently not mandatory at UK airports, but it is recommended to wear one, especially when in confined and busy spaces.

On the aircraft:
Wear a suitable face covering - masks are still mandatory on most airlines
Listen to any announcements and advice given by the crew, things may have changed since you last travelled
Inflight service may be limited, especially on shorter routes
Ask the cabin crew if you are unsure about anything
Be respectful of other passengers

During your trip / When you return:
All Covid restrictions have now been lifted in the UK. You will no longer need to complete a Passenger Locator Form or book any tests when arriving in the UK.
If you are returning to somewhere other than the UK, ensure to check the entry requirements for your return destination.
Covid rules vary country to country. Mask wearing and social distancing etc may in place in the destination you are visiting.

Before you book your hotel stay online
Check if hotel facilities are operating as normal
Check what measures hotels are taking to keep their guests safe
Find out hotel procedure on guests showing COVID-19 symptoms

During your stay
Use contactless check in/check out if available
Wash your hands frequently
Avoid shared hotel facilities, e.g. gym or spa

You may want to observe social distancing and wear a face mask in public areas at the hotel
Open windows within your room for ventilation
Place your used clothes in sealed bags
If you’re feeling unwell, report any symptoms immediately. You will be required to self-isolate in your room and will receive room service only.
