Mental Health Awareness Week aims to get people talking about, and removing, the stigma associated with mental health, and takes place this week, from 14th to 20th May. At CT Business Travel, we take our employees' workplace mental health seriously. Earlier this year we created a new position of Wellness Director and Willow the Cockapoo duly took up her position on the Board of Directors. Having animals in the workplace has been proven to help reduce stress, depression and anxiety and Willow is more than happy to oblige when staff feel like a cuddle or getting out for a walk. The positive effects of exercise on mental health have recently been highlighted by the University of Limerick who recently conducted a study which found lifting weights is associated ‘with a significant reduction in depressive symptoms.’
To help staff with their fitness and mental health, the Tunbridge Wells office has an onsite gym with personal training sessions taking place every Friday. Homeworkers are able to use this whenever they wish. To help staff’s wellbeing further, a staff company health day takes place twice a year and this year will be held on Friday 25th May. Employees can take part in a selection of activities including an external assault course and stretching/yoga classes. A healthy lunch is also laid on by the Board of Directors for staff to enjoy.
Starting this week, a delivery of fresh fruit will also be made to both the Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone offices, to encourage staff to enjoy healthy snacks throughout the day.
