London Gatwick Airport has opened a dedicated electric vehicle charging forecourt named GRIDSERVE, featuring 30 chargers for both high and low-power vehicles which are available 24 hours a day. It is the first of its kind to be launched by an international airport.
As well as the car charging ports, GRIDSERVE also includes a lounge area, high-speed Wi-Fi, Costa Coffee, Little Fresh convenience store and an interactive EV experience area where it is possible to test drive an electric vehicle. Each of the charging bays is powered by 100% net zero energy, with the fastest able to add up to 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes.
Bronwen Jones, Development Director at London Gatwick commented: “We are proud to be the first international airport to open a GRIDSERVE Electric Forecourt®. The charging station has been placed in a strategic location and will be available to millions of passengers, commuters, staff, residents and businesses that pass through the area each year. As we invest in our long-term future growth, additions such as GRIDSERVE are vital to London Gatwick’s ecosystem.”
