London Gatwick airport has announced plans to open an electric charging forecourt which has been described as the ‘net zero carbon equivalent of a petrol station’
The new facility which is due to open in autumn 2022 will be available for passengers, airport staff, commuters, local residents and businesses. It has been reported it can service up to 36 electric vehicles at any one time. The electric charging forecourt will feature high-power chargers capable of delivering up to 350 kW of power and adding 100 miles of range in under 10 minutes.
It will be located n the Ring Road South approach of the airport’s South Terminal, adjacent to the M23. It will also feature a comfortable waiting lounge free WiFi, supermarket and a café.
