RED WEATHER WARNING ISSUED FOR PARTS OF THE UK ON 18TH FEBRUARY

A rare red weather warning – the highest level – has been issued for parts of the UK on Friday 18th February.

The Met Office has warned Storm Eunice will bring winds of up to 90mph, which is likely cause significant disruption to travel.

The red warning – which covers the coastline of Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and the south coast of Wales – is in place from 07:00 GMT until 12:00 on Friday. An amber warning will remain in place for most of England and the rest of Wales between 05:00 and 21:00.

All train services in Wales have been suspended on Friday 18th, whilst many other rail companies are urging customers not to travel due to expected disruption and cancellations.

If you do need to travel, expect delays. Ensure to check with your travel provider before departing.

Although the winds are expected to ease late on Friday morning, the weather is likely to remain unsettled over the weekend with more rain and strong winds.
