Amid new Omicron cases found in the US, travel requirements to the US are changing.
From 5am GMT on Monday 6th December, all air passengers, regardless of vaccination status, must show a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 1 day before travel to the United States. This has been reduced from three days.
Either a PCR or rapid antigen test can be used for entry. Please note if the traveller chooses a rapid antigen test, this must be supervised, either in clinic or via video link and an email provided stating the traveller is negative. Ensure you have enough time to take the test and receive the results. You must show your negative result to the airline before you board your flight.
What you need to know when travelling to the US from 6th December:
• You must be fully vaccinated to travel to the United States by plane if you are a non-U.S. citizen. Only limited exceptions apply.
• You are required to show a negative COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 when you travel to the United States by air, taken no more than one day before travel.
• Wearing a mask over your nose and mouth is required in indoor areas of public transportation (including airplanes) traveling into, within, or out of the United States and indoors in U.S. transportation hubs (including airports).
